The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) offers students an exciting opportunity to pursue a subject they are passionate about in greater depth, while honing their independent research skills in readiness for further study. At Chesterton Sixth Form students will benefit from a dedicated EPQ tutor who will support them throughout the project, in addition to seminar-based teaching of core skills in research, project design and management, producing effective extended writing and much more.
Subject Information
Students are free to choose their own project’s focus and outcome. They will receive 1:1 input from an expert member of staff throughout the project. The outcome can be a design, performance, report, dissertation or artefact.
Course Details
The Extended Project Qualification provides students with the opportunity to:
- develop and improve their own learning and performance as critical, reflective and independent students
- develop and apply decision-making and, where appropriate, problem-solving skills
- extend their planning, research, critical thinking, analysis, synthesis, evaluation and presentation skills
- develop as e-confident students and apply new technologies in their studies, where appropriate
- develop and apply skills creatively, demonstrating initiative and enterprise
- use their learning experiences to support their personal aspirations for further study and career development
