Biology

The study of life itself. Biology explores the theories and principals involved in living systems, in all their intricate beauty. A subject you can submerge yourself in and physically explore the biology of the world around you from workshops; day trips; guest lectures; residential trips; links to research, industry, and history of biology in the local area.

Subject Information

The relevance of biology continues to grow. With an understanding of biology we learn about how organisms work and their impact on the world, and from this we can begin to propose solutions to the problems our planet will face in the future.

Biology helps us to understand how organisms are structured and function. It helps us discover how the world works, our place, impact, role and the responsibilities we have, to explore how scientific ideas develop and how we learn by experimentation.

Course Details

Biology offers students a flexible approach: designed to integrate practical skills and context with theory, with an emphasis on the story of science, to develop well-rounded and inquisitive learners who thrive in education and beyond.

You will be studying everything from the basic biological molecules of organisms to species interactions within ecosystems. You will have the opportunity to walk in the footsteps of Cambridge’s famous scientists to discover more about life on Earth and what the future may have in store.

Alongside the knowledge gained you will also expand your understanding of how society makes decisions about scientific ethical and moral issues, as well as some of the ways in which the scientific community contributes to the success of the economy and society.

Subject Specific Entry Requirements

  • Grades 7-7 in GCSE Combined Science.
  • or Grade 7 in GCSE Biology.

Where could Biology take me?
